The Englewood Democratic Club welcomes you to our hybrid meeting. You may attend in-person at the Englewood Chamber of Commerce located at 601 S. Indiana Ave., Englewood, if you are fully vaccinated. Optionally, you can sign up for the Zoom meeting. Please RSVP by selecting the meeting style of your choice. An RSVP is needed to ensure appropriate seating. If signing up for the Zoom meeting, you will be sent the Zoom instructions closer to the meeting date.

Refreshments will be served immediately after the meeting.

The meeting will feature a panel discussion with Teresa Jenkins, chair of the Charlotte County Democratic Executive Committee and JoAnne DeVries, chair of the Sarasota Democratic Party. The topic will be goals for 2022 and beyond.

Teresa Jenkins

Teresa Jenkins is Chair of the Charlotte County Democratic Executive Committee. Teresa was founder and President of the SW FL Independent Voter’s Assoc., Board member of the FL League of Women Voters and President of the Charlotte County of the Charlotte County League of Women Voters. Teresa was the executive director of Pres. Bill Clinton’s Labor Management Partnership Council and helped craft the legislation that created the Depart. Of Homeland Security under Pres. Bush. Currently, Teresa chairs a multi-county NPA Discussion/Texting Group. She is the author of “Make Democracy Work Again,” published in 2016.

JoAnne DeVries

JoAnne DeVries has been Chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party for five years. Currently, she holds the positions of Treasurer of the Democratic County Chairs Assoc. and Chair of the DCCA voter registration committee. JoAnne is also a board member of the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) Campaign Committee and Chair of the FDP’s voter registration subcommittee. Finally, as a longtime disability rights activist on behalf of hearing-impaired persons, JoAnne is a board member of the Hearing Loss Association of Sarasota/Manatee.

Drinking Liberally Englewood events are co-hosted by the Englewood Democratic Club and Charlotte County Democrats. All like-minded, left-leaning individuals are invited to attend and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it’s not tabooed to talk politics.

Don’t worry if you don’t drink alcohol. Many participants prefer soft drinks.

Voter Registration

Voter Registration will be on Monday May 23rd from 10:00–12:00 at Elsie Quirk Library on 100 W. Dearborn St. This is a weekly event each Monday. Contact chriskenealy@msn.com if you would like to volunteer.
